Institutional Policy Overview
In accordance with the NM-AIST Research Policy, all postgraduate theses, dissertations, and course assignments must undergo rigorous originality screening. This process is not merely a check for plagiarism but a tool for scholars to verify the integrity of their citations and the novelty of their contributions to the scientific community.
1. Interpreting the Similarity Report
The Turnitin Similarity Index indicates the percentage of a document's content that matches existing sources in the global database. Post-graduate scholars should aim for a Similarity Index of 20% or less (excluding bibliography and direct quotes).
0% - 24% (Green)
Acceptable range; typical for original research with standard citations.
25% - 49% (Yellow)
Requires review. Check for over-reliance on direct quotations.
50%+ (Red)
High similarity. Likely indicates serious paraphrasing or citation errors.
2. Submission Protocols
- File Requirements: Documents must be in .pdf or .docx format, containing a minimum of 20 words.
- Anonymization: Ensure your manuscript adheres to the "Double-Blind" review standards if requested by your supervisor.
- Digital Receipt: Upon successful upload, a 10-digit Turnitin Digital Receipt will be issued. Retain this for your academic records.
